Geostream has designed and manufactured a twin soil-vapour-extraction and pump-and-treat system, compliant with ATEX standards, for a remediation project in a service station.
The plant has a 300-m3/h air-extraction capacity and works with six Viridian-made ATEX automatic submersible pumps. The container is compact—4.5-m long—with a twin door to completely separate the ATEX area (with the treatment part) from the non-ATEX area (with air compressor and control panel).
The plant uses digital control of the water-transfer and air-flow cycles, through an ATEX flow transmitter. The data are stored on the PLC and can be viewed or downloaded remotely from the office.
There is also a passive heat exchanger mounted on the outside of the container, which achieves a significant reduction in vapour temperature, without requiring maintenance or consuming electricity.
